Axalta Coating Systems has announced that it will build a new manufacturing plant for car, commercial vehicle and industrial coatings in the Chinese city of Nanjing. The facility will be built on a site that covers more than 170,000 square metres and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2020. It will manufacture a broad range of products, including primers, base coats, clear coats and resin intermediates, together with electrocoatings and Energy Solutions coatings. The facility will also function as a logistics centre and distribution point for Axalta’s refinishing and industrial products for customers located in southern and central parts of the country. The Nanjing plant will eventually be Axalta’s third largest global production facility.
