BASF Shanghai Coatings (BSC) has opened a new technical center at its Minhang site. With this new offering, BSC can better serve vehicle manufacturers in China with its technology, products and services. The center offers customers holistic solutions that cover the entire process from color design, styling and customization to product development and launch through the "color + innovation" studio, BSC said. The new organization is expected to elaborate high-quality color shades, significantly shorten product development times and improve overall work efficiency. The technology center for KTL application was newly built to improve technical competence and performance in application technology. In the KTL application laboratory and pilot plant, product releases, quality checks and process compatibility tests can be carried out, and customers can be supported in parameter adjustment and process and technology optimization with the help of basin and technology simulations. The expansion project in Minhang was launched in 2020 and includes the modernization of a complete office building, a technical center, the cathodic dip painting application technology center and the newly established Chemetall regional research and development center. The expanded Minhang site will be a production site focusing on coatings and surface treatment, bringing development, technical services and sales staff closer together to form a suitable team for automotive manufacturers and jointly promote the innovative and sustainable development of the automotive coatings industry. BASF's Coatings division operates production sites, technical laboratories and research and development centers around the world to enhance collaboration with customers and provide automotive manufacturers with product solutions tailored to their individual requirements.
