Hemmelrath Lackfabrik GmbH is investing tens of millions in the expansion of its subsidiaries in the USA and China. The aim is to be able to manufacture the entire range of the company's own products in the most important automotive regions. Until now, the paint manufacturer has exclusively produced waterborne primers in the USA and China. It now plans to also manufacture clearcoats, basecoats and primerless systems. The company has been producing its products at the Changchun site in China since 2015 and is opening a new and much bigger production facility at the Jilin Chemical Industrial Park (JCIP) in the north east of China in 2018. The necessary preparations have already been made for the future expansion, as the new site in Jilin, with an area of 27,000 m2, is around twice the size of Hemmelrath's main production plant in Klingenberg. Hemmelrath is also expanding its US production facility in Duncan, South Carolina, which has been in existence since 2005, with the aim of supplying customers in the NAFTA region. In addition to the expansion of the warehousing space and laboratories and the construction of an in-house application centre, a production facility for basecoats, primerless systems and clearcoats is also being built in Duncan. Here too, the expansion has already been planned in such a way as to make further expansion possible in parallel with customers' requirements.
