The paint manufacturer wants to reflect this in the latest Colors of the Year, that it has released for 2025. By publishing the annual color selection, the company wants to contribute to a lively, public discussion about current trends. In the case of coatings, the design of the surface, such as its gloss level, structure and feel, adds to the color tone. The Mankiewicz design team decided on the shades “Homecoming”, “Balance” and “Pulse” for 2025.
Coming home stands for a return to the familiar in a personal or cultural context. The idea is capturing the charisma of the known and familiar, and invoking this in form or color. The green shade picks up on a trend color that has left its mark in neoclassicism, Art Nouveau and the seventies, for example. The fine sparkle in the painted surface is reminiscent of the shimmer of velvet or a hand-glazed tile.
In “Balance”, designers sought a balance between what resources the world can supply and what people need to live. Among other things, they saw durability as an important aspect. For products and materials that people like to surround themselves with for many years, color palettes dominate with timeless and quiet colors. The warm, light wool shade has a fine structure and provides a visually and haptically pleasant surface.
“Pulse” has a fine, matte effect and a slightly dark red nuance that lends it a mysterious and dramatic quality. The strong flop effect creates clear contrasts between light and dark. However, when light falls on the shade, it appears to glow a delicate golden red from within.
