Evonik has developed the matting agent Acematt 3400 for highly transparent clear coats and soft-touch coatings with smooth surfaces. It is a surface-treated thermal silica with an average particle size of 7.5 micrometers. The improved grinding ensures high surface smoothness with very good optical and haptic properties. Typical applications are wood coatings, plastics and automotive coatings. The matting agent can also be used in high-solids and low-VOC formulations. www.evonik.com
